Homemade dhansak masala is an essential ingredient in an authentic Parsi dhansak recipe. The flavourful mixture is made by roasting whole spices and grinding them into a powder form, thereby bringing in the earthy, warm, slightly sweet, and subtly smoky taste that is typical of this delicacy. Making dhansak masala at home means that the spices are fresh and possess oil and aroma. Prepared dhansak masala can be stored in an airtight container for months. In addition to the traditional dhansak dish, it can be used in making lentil curry, vegetable stews, meat gravy, and rice dishes whenever Parsi taste is required.
